Autumn Walks

Saturday, 25 October 2014

Autumn is well and truly here, meaning it's now acceptable to layer up in lots of cosy knitwear and drink copious amounts of hot chocolate!
Today I had a little day out with my housemates to give us all a break from the stresses of uni. It was so nice to be out in the crisp fresh air, surrounded by countryside instead of the city and to have golden leaves crunch beneath our feet. There's so many festive things to look forward to at this time of year as well, with Halloween fast approaching, Bonfire night and of course the build up for Christmas!!!..But please lets get Halloween and Bonfire night out the way before we start singing carol songs..it's still a tad early

Things that make you go mmm..

I would like to introduce you to the Slutty Brownie.. if you haven't already stumbled across this oh so naughty but amazing mixture of baked goods heaven!!

I wish I could claim to have created this masterpiece, but I didn't, so rather than a recipe, this is more of a heads up that you should head over to The Londoner's blog and get those oven gloves on.

Top Layer: Brownie
Middle Layer: Oreos
Bottom Layer: Cookies

I have started the gym again recently, which unfortunately has led me to believe I am now entitled  able to eat whatever I want....I definitely can't get away with it BUT a girl has got to treat herself sometimes!

Home Away from Home

Monday, 13 October 2014

I mentioned in the last couple posts that I'm now back at Uni and settling back into things :) My room at Uni is a very different style to my room at home but I do love it nearly just as much.

I found this bedding in the sale at Debenhams last year and the colour scheme basically stemmed from that. I'm soooo fussy about stuff matching in my room - people think I'm ridiculous at times..
See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil

These little cuties are also from Debenhams! I hope I've put them in the right order!

I absolutely have to have scented candles in my room! They're a must for bed time reading, making the room extra cosy and snug :) This one was only a pound from Ikea - it didn't have a scent written on it, but pictures of pebbles which reminded me of a spa. I also like to have fresh flowers in my room but I'm a poor student so these fake ones will have to do for now - also from Ikea.

Have you worked out I like owl things yet?!

If you've got any blog posts about your uni room, please put a link in the comments. I like being nosey and getting ideas!

The Little Things

Sunday, 12 October 2014

Mmmmm..bet you're craving them now ;)

I've been super busy recently with starting back at Uni and getting back into a working routine so with that has come a lot of stress - most of the time it's unnecessary, but it's so easy to let stuff get on top of you and to panic!

One thing in particular that made me feel a bit better was my landlord surprising my housemates and I with this box of Krispy Kremes! I've never put my pen down quicker to run downstairs and eat these..I'm ashamed to say they didn't last 24hours..you'd do the same!

It was such a nice gesture and made me realise what an impact nice little surprises like this can make to someone's day and mood.

I'm not the best at packing for long trips away from home so my mum has had to send some of my stuff over twice now and each one has had an extra surprise in! In my first parcel she put in a cute postcard and some sachets of my favourite hot chocolate; perfect for these colder, dark evenings. In the second parcel (yes my organisational skills are not always top notch) she put in a new jumper which was similar to one I'd tried on before but couldn't afford to buy at the time! She's s cute :)

It's so lovely when people make little gestures like that as they really do change the way you feel for the rest of the day. I wish I spent more time writing letters to my friends and family like I did in first year as it's so exciting getting things in the post - other than threats about the TV Licence!! It definitely feels more personal than a text message, don't you think?
